The Army Spouses’ Club of the Greater Washington Area (ASCGWA) is a non-profit organization run by dedicated volunteers. Our mission is to support and promote socio-economic and educational outreach for Soldiers, their Families, and Department of the Army (DA) Civilians in the National Capital Region (NCR). We also aim to foster connections among our members and support organizations that benefit Soldiers.
We take pride in our heritage, celebrate our diversity, and look forward to a bright future! Our club offers numerous opportunities to reconnect with old friends and make new ones through monthly luncheons, tours, volunteer and fundraising events, and other social activities. The DC area has so much to offer, and we invite you to explore it with us. We can’t wait to welcome you!
Our members reside throughout the Washington D.C. metro area, including Maryland and Virginia, with many living near Joint Base Fort Myer-Henderson Hall, Fort McNair, and Fort Belvoir. We hope you’ll join us. To become a member, please visit our membership page.

A Note from The Army Spouses' Club President ...
Welcome to the Army Spouses' Club of the Greater Washington Area (ASCGWA)! I'm Jennifer and I am honored to serve as your President for the 2025-26 Club year. If you are new to the area welcome, we look forward to meeting you, if you are returning, we’re glad to see you! Our membership includes individuals of diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences. ASCGWA is open to everyone affiliated with the miliary and we aim to provide opportunities to meet friends, new and old, and support this unique military way of life. You will have the chance to meet others who understand your lifestyle and are familiar with its specific advantages and challenges.
Participation is flexible, with no set requirements or time commitments. Choose what works best for you. The club offers luncheons held on the third Thursday of every month. These feature guest speakers and fun programs.
We also host smaller group activities which include:
Zip Code Groups- Connect with neighbors and enjoy fun and fellowship with other military spouses
Special Activity Groups- Spend time with others who have the same interests as you. Whether it’s with the Vino Voyage Club, Books and Bites Book Club, The Reel Deal, Bible Study and more, we have something for everyone. We encouraged everyone to participate or lead a new group if you don’t see one that fits your interests.
Tours - organized regularly, which may include visits to places like the White House during the holidays, museums, historic homes, seasonal events, special restaurants, and other destinations, with most events being exclusive to members only.
We look forward to seeing you at these fun, exciting events!
We have the unique opportunity to welcome International Military Spouses. Your presence here weaves a richer tapestry of perspectives, cultures, and lifestyles strengthening our organization. Whether it’s sharing a beloved dish from your homeland, introducing a traditional dance, or simply exchanging greetings in your own language, each moment of sharing is an occasion to connect and learn.
Each year, our members eagerly anticipate the Joint Armed Forces of Washington Luncheon (JAFOWL), which will be held this Fall. This event is organized in partnership with spouse clubs from the Air Force, Space Force, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. Established in 1977, the luncheon fosters valuable networking opportunities and features distinguished speakers. Some include Nancy Regan, Bob Hope, George Bush, Michelle Obama and Gary Sinise-who each contributed to making JAFOWL one of the most prominent and esteemed events in our organization. Over the years, it has served to connect and strengthen camaraderie among Military Spouses.
Your ASCGWA board members have been working hard this summer to plan for an exciting year ahead and I can’t wait for you to see what they have in store. We are fortunate to have these amazing spouses that have volunteered their time and talents to support our club and community. If you’re interested in joining our team, there are a few board positions open. Please contact me to learn more about serving as a board member or committee chair.
The first event the board has been diligently preparing is the Welcome Social, scheduled for September 18, 2025.
