Luncheon Registration Process

We are hopeful that you will be able to join us for each and every luncheon this year.  Beginning October 2024, in a continued effort to enhance planning for our events and to maintain a positive working relationship with Patton Hall, we are better defining our registration process for the upcoming year. Please make note of the updated registration guidelines below.

  • Registration for all luncheons will end at midnight the Friday before our Thursday luncheon. Members will be charged the normal $35 fee.
  • Late registrations received on the weekend, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday and ending at midnight on Sunday, will still be guaranteed a reserved seat for Thursday’s event at a cost of $40.
  • Cancelations must be requested through reservations@armyspousesclub.org by midnight the Sunday before the luncheon to receive a refund.

The same timelines and fees will be applied to any visitors accompanying members.  We will purchase a meal for everyone with permanent reservations unless we are notified that they will not be able to attend.

As always, please mark your calendars for the Army Spouses Club every third Thursday of the month.  In order to take advantage of the $35 luncheon fee, be sure to register promptly when you receive your luncheon notification.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

We are proud to be The Army Spouses’ Club where we warmly welcome Spouses married to Soldiers, DA Civilians and other Military members of all ranks.

We are also proud of our history and the evolution of our organization.

A Little History ....

In 1974, The Fort Myer Wives Club officially changed their name to The Army Officers’ Wives’ Club of the Greater Washington Area.  Although the name changed, the duties of Army Wives did not.  They continued to stand in silent ranks supporting their Soldiers, the Army, and our nation.  As today, they did not serve for recognition; they did it because they fell in love with a Soldier and that was the lifestyle expected of an Army Wife. At that time, organizations such as ours were cherished as their members found friendship, comraderie and encouragement in the relationships made within the club community.

In 1976, our club reached out to Ida Terry and asked her to create a seal representing the Army Wife of that era and the unwritten expectations of the role.  She generously did so, and detailed information on the symbols included may be found below.  Our club has proudly displayed the graphic as representation of our membership since that time.

As the world and Army changed, so did the club and along with it, the faces of its membership.  In 2016, we changed our name to the Army Spouses’ Club of the Greater Washington Area as we welcomed male members, and in April of 2018 we became the inclusive club we are today by voting to welcome Spouses married to all military ranks.

While the club's name has changed a few times, we find that our members come together for some of the same reasons we did in 1974.  Now, as then, we value each other's uniqueness, perspective and individuality, and we continue to take pride in the role of Army Spouse.  No matter the title of our club, we are certain within the embracing arms of our membership, Military Spouses will always find encouragement, comraderie, and friendship.

The Army Wife Seal

The EAGLE at the top of the circle represents the Army Wife, who in protecting her nest, also protects the flag and the future it represents. Alert and poised, she is ready to defend either when the need arises.

As the ultimate goal of her husband's profession is peace, so it is hers. The OLIVE BRANCH held by the eagle represents this peace; her hope for an end to wars for her husband and her children.

The DOUBLE CIRCLE enclosing all is her wedding band, symbol of eternity and never-ending love. This circle is broken only by the eagle, here a symbol of her duty to country. For the Army Wife, the break in the circle represents the many separations and the possible ultimate sacrifice.

  • The LYRE, symbol of harmony, gentility and romance, surrounds the four phases of her life that she holds dear.
  • The CRADLE represents her children, her Mother - her own Motherhood.
  • The SHEAF of wheat represents the staples and stability she provides for her family - her duty.
  • The GRAPES represent the social life, the wine, fun, sense of humor - her lighter side.
  • The open BOOK represents her individuality and personal self-fulfillment thru knowledge and wisdom. The person she is and becomes - her personal self.

The Army Wives Seal was designed by Mrs Ida True Terry who signed an ownership agreement with the club on 4 Aug 1976.  The club recorded the trademark and has maintained the registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  The seal may not be used or reproduced without permission from The Army Spouses’ Club of the Greater Washington Area.
